After what could be described as an embarrassing start for the organizers of the 2012 edition of Arise Magazine Fashion Week, one of the biggest fashion shows in Africa finally kicked off after stalling for two straight days.
The fashion show finally kicked off  Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos after a rescheduled time table of events was made available.
Starting off with the Red Carpet session which came alive at around 2pm. Some looked blazing hot, others just froze it down it with calm and serene looking outfits. One of such was TY Bello who had on a loosely fit white shirt on a pair of black leggings tucked in her brown low heeled gladiator sandals.
A total of 13 houses were showcased on the first night. These include Kola Kudus, Kaveke, Femi Handbags, Toju Foyeh, Loza Maleombho, Meena and Re Bahia. Others are  JINI Collection, Paul Herve Elisabeth, La Quan Smith, Imame Ayissi, Taibor Bacar, David David and MAI.
The highest point of the show however came from the music performances by Naeto C, Davido and W4 who in the space of 10 minutes got the guests singing and swaying along.
The reactions from guests after the show was conspicuously positive with everyone glad to see the  fashion week finally kick off.
