ZAHARA FROM MADIBA TO GRACE AFRICA DAY CONCERT IN LUSAKA-ZAMBIA

SOUTH AFRICAN songbird Zahara is next month scheduled to grace an Africa Freedom Day concert at the Government Complex in Lusaka.

According to a press release, the award-winning Afro-soul singer, songwriter and poet will perform on Friday May 24 under the theme ‘Africa Night With Zahara’.
From Zambia, local artists Pompi and Scarlet have been lined up as opening acts for the concert.
The 25-year-old’s debut album ‘Loliwe’ went double platinum and the singer won 8 awards at last year’s South African Music Awards.

The Africa Night concert has been organised by the Straight Up Company to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of Africa Freedom Day, which falls on May 25. The concert is designed to portray Africa’s unity, and inspire people to embrace their African identity.

Straight Up managing director, Alinani Mugala said the company had partnered with pan-African brands to ensure the event’s success.
“We at Straight Up believe that Africa is the future and we strive to build up the continent in all our endeavours,” said Mugala. “Zahara represents the future of African music. Her music speaks to so many people and resonates with diverse cultures.”
Straight Up Company also organised last November’s hugely successful sold-out performances by South African comedian Trevor Noah.
