MTV AFRICA MUSIC AWARDS NOMINEES NIGHT SET FOR BONGO DAR ES SALAAM

 AS the countdown continues to the 2014 MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA), an all-star line-up of the hottest nominees and DJs are set to headline Tanzania's very own 'Road to MAMA' party.According to a statement issued by Tell- EM, the pan-African party tour arrives in Dar es Salaam on May 16th before heading onto Lagos, Nigeria at the end of the month.
Featuring contemporary artists and music that are making waves across the continent, Road to MAMA Tanzania is a pan-African club tour, criss-crossing the continent in the build up to the MAMA awards.The party will take place at Club Bilicanas in the city on May 16. Leading the line-up at the 'Road to MAMA' Tanzania will be Diamond, Tanzania's own MAMA nominee in the Best Male & Best Collaboration award categories, while South African Kwaito legend and dance floor filler Professor will be showing off the style that earned him a nomination for Best Collaboration.
They'll be joined by Kenyan Best Group nominees Sauti Sol, alongside Radio and Weasel, Uganda's hotly tipped nominees for Best Collaboration, following their successful pairing with Amani on 'Kiboko Changu'.Making sure the party goes with a bang are star Tanzanian DJs, DJ Zero, DJ Stevie B and DJ Mafuvu, while MTV Base 'Mixology' star DJ Tira will be flying in from Durban, South Africa, to show off his legendary turntable skills.
Road to MAMA Tanzania provides an electrifying foretaste of the upcoming MTV Africa Music Awards, which are taking place in South Africa for the first time at the ICC, Durban on June 7, 2014.Nominations for the awards were revealed on April 16 in 15 different categories including Best Male, Best Female, Song of the Year and Artist of the Year.
Tied for first place in the nominations for the 2014 MAMA are South African artists Mafikizolo and Uhuru, and Nigerian artist Davido, who each scored four nominations while going directly head-to-head for Song of the Year, Artist of the Year and Best Collaboration.
Following closely behind with 3 nominations each were Nigerian artists P Square (Best Group, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year), South Africa's Mi Casa (Best Group, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year), and Angolan artist Yuri Da Cunha (Song of the Year, Best Lusophone and Best Collaboration).Hot on their heels with two nods each are Diamond from Tanzania (Best Male, Best Collaboration). Broadening the scope of the MAMA awards in 2014, achievement in non-music fields is recognised in three "lifestyle" categories including "Personality of the Year", "Transform Today by Absolut", and the "MTV Base Leadership Award".
The "MTV Base Leadership Award" is awarded to a young African man or woman under the age of 40 who is inspiring young Africans by their leadership and extraordinary achievement in a prominent field (including but not limited to: the arts, business, politics, science, entrepreneurship and charitable work).
